Suspected Groper Booked at San Diego Central Jail

A man who’s been accused of groping women on the San Diego State University Campus has been re-arrested.

Authorities say the man had been released from jail just three days prior after being arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with the SDSU attacks. He was out on bail bonds when he was booked in connection with a similar crime that took place on the UC Riverside campus earlier this year.

The suspect, who has since been identified as 19-year-old Minda Shewangizaw was arrested at his place of employment by members of a federal fugitive task force.

The defendant is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail pending extradition to Riverside County. Charges in that case were not immediately available, police said, although it’s believed he could be booked on suspicion of false imprisonment and sexual assault.

It’s not immediately clear whether Shewangizaw has been arrested for similar crimes prior to being taken into custody in connection with the two recent cases.
