San Diego Police Save Baby from Kidnapping Suspect

A spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department has confirmed that a two-month-old baby has been reunited with his mother after a suspect snatched the infant from her hands.

The incident happened in late September, police said, when the baby’s father grabbed the baby from the woman; he then shoved her before he ran off.  A witness who saw the crime take place followed the man into Balboa Park; he also called the SDPD and provided officers with a description of the suspect, along with his whereabouts.

When officers caught up with the suspect, they found him holding the baby and a knife. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was likely taken to the San Diego Central Jail to be booked and processed; it’s believed he may have been charged with kidnapping and assault.  Since he was holding a knife at the time the incident took place, he may have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

His bail would have been set based on his charges. If, during the booking process, it was determined he had outstanding warrants, that could have pushed his bail bonds amount much higher.
